The Beauty-Brain Loop
When you look better, you feel better. When you feel better, you look better. That's the Beauty- Brain Loop in a nutshell. In this holistic system, anything that changes one stage of the Loop activates changes in the other stages. Every choice you make affects all aspects of your beauty- from your skin and weight to your emotions and relationships:
• Start a workout program that gets you fit and lean (Health), and you'll get compliments that boost your self-esteem (Inner Beauty).
• Get dental veneers for the dazzling smile you've always wanted (Outer Beauty) and you'll find yourself with more confidence in social situations (Environment).
As the Beauty and the Brain doctors, we encourage a whole-woman view of beauty that acknowledges that being truly beautiful and magnetic isn't about how young or how thin you are...but about who you are inside and out. Let's discover that together.

Dr. Debra Luftman, M.D.Dr. Debra Luftman has always felt that there is an important connection between overall health, skin health and emotional well being. Her mission is offering cutting edge medical care while retaining the art of medicine-always communicating with her patients.

"We should be concerned and aware of what is happening to our skin because it is the largest living organ of the body," comments Dr. Luftman. "Our overall health is reflected in the condition of our skin."

Dr. Luftman began developing her interest in science and aesthetics while an undergraduate at the University of California San Diego, where she majored in biology and minored in art history. She then traveled to Europe to pursue her artistic interests and study under a fellowship at St Andrews University in Scotland. After returning to this country, she attended medical school at Tufts University and completed her residency in internal medicine and dermatology at UCLA.

Having entered the field of cosmetic dermatology when the field was still in its infancy, Dr. Luftman is an authority on numerous anti-aging treatments and constantly researches the latest technologies. She was one of the first to publish the use of external ultrasound in conjunction with tumescent liposuction. In her practice, she offers patients an array of the most recent lasers for skin rejuvenation and hair removal. She also offers injectable fillers, such as Cosmoderm®, Cosmoplast®, Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvéderm™ in addition to Botox® for reducing wrinkles.

Dr. Luftman currently divides her time between her two office practices, and raising two teenage children with her husband. She has also developed her own skincare line of products, Therapeutix® . She maintains an active dermatological research center through her office, studying treatments for acne, psoriasis, cosmetic devices and injectables.

Dr. Luftman is often called upon in the press as an expert in cosmetic medicine, and has appeared on Good Morning America, and EXTRA TV as well as other television programs. She is frequently quoted in the NY Times, LA Times, Vogue, W, InStyle, Oprah Magazine, National Public Radio, just to name a few. She is also the co-editor for the medical text Glycolic Acid Peels, Published by Marcel Dekker.

Her practice includes general and cosmetic dermatology, and she sees a wide range of patients—males and females of all ages, including children and teens. Dr. Luftman retains an academic association, teaching skin surgery and general dermatology at UCLA.

Dr. Luftman's conviction is that beauty is more then skin deep. Health, beauty, the environment and emotional wellness make a complete picture. Her fulfillment lies in being able to treat and educate patients, and loves spending time with them as much as keeping up with technology and research. In her free time, she continues to develop her passion for art by taking drawing classes.
